Creston Cemetery
Within proximity to San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Atascadero and Morro Bay, Creston Cemetery stands on the top of a hill, boasting scenic views that capture the Central California landscape. The town of Creston was originally a wilderness area home to the Chumash and Salian tribes.
European settlers were also attracted to the area, establishing Creston as a California town in 1884. It became a thriving community, full of pioneers who had found their way from Europe to create their homestead as ranchers and farmers. Many of the descendants of the original pioneers still consider Creston their home and own local ranches, farms and operate essential businesses in the town center. Their ancestors were laid to rest in Creston Cemetery, their wooden markers and gravestones are still standing, marking their legacy.
In 2021, Ed Bixby and Baxley Andresen of Steelmantown Cemetery Company acquired Creston Cemetery with the intention of bringing it new life as a natural burial preserve. Burials occur in a picturesque field of wild grasses and flowers overlooking rolling hills and vineyards.

Services
The seasons are mild and sweet in this part of Central California - summers are hot and dry and ring in the harvest for the vineyards. As the days get shorter, the light becomes more golden and the shadows long. The rainy season happens around the winter holidays and into the beginning of the year; even snow makes an occasional appearance, and hopefully there is enough water so the wildflowers can show off in spring. The oak trees stay green all year round, which can be seen spread out through the hills and bowing over the windy roads that lead to and from Creston. It’s easy to understand the appeal of the Native Americans and the settlers of this region. At this cemetery, we preserve the habitat for the native flora and fauna by offering green burial, honoring the land and the priceless landscape.
