Westwood Hills Memorial Park's Story
Preserving a rich history in the heart of northern California gold rush country, Westwood Hills Memorial Park is the final resting place of many of the state's "49ers" who flocked to the region in the mid-19th century in hopes of making their fortunes. Ed Bixby, owner of Steelmantown Cemetery Company, acquired the property in 2018 with the goal of creating a one-of-a-kind memorial park. Ed spent years creating themed interment spaces throughout the facility, varying from the Asian Cremation Garden to an Elevated Outdoor Cremation Niche Sanctuary. Serene fountains and hand-sculpted statues can be found all throughout the property, serving as a peaceful place for families to reflect when visiting a loved one. Ed continues to create new and exciting places for families and visitors to enjoy at Westwood Hills Memorial Park. As natural burial is his specialty, Ed also created "The Meadow", a designated natural burial area.
